2017 in Review.

We are already nearly a week into the New Year, and we hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Year celebrations. Once again we are looking back over yet another amazing year in 2017, one that has led to us, with your help, to place over 136 dogs into new loving families, and to continue caring for 9 dogs who are in lifetime foster with us as they have ongoing medical conditions and lifetime medication.

To help raise last year’s £27,680.68 vet bill we increased our fundraising efforts and have enjoyed weekends away raising awareness at Paws in the Park, Dogfest and PupAid as well as spending regular weekends at our local Pets at Home in Whitfield and The Pet Food Shop in Walmer meeting lots of supporters and old friends, and making lots of new ones. We have strengthened our partnership with Natural Instinct, who kindly provide food for the dogs in our care,  and we have continued to strengthen our ties with our amazing partnered vet practices, Lakeview Veterinary Centre in Deal and Vets4Pets in Whitfield. Our Christmas Auction was an amazing success and has ensured that we start this year with no overdue veterinary bills!

Sadly this years we have also had to say goodbye to a couple of CPR dogs as they left for Rainbow Bridge, safe in the knowledge they had amazing families who loved them very much, and we shared in their tears and grief. We were also very much saddened to lose one of our main supporters and fundraisers Mugly, just after Christmas, he has raised thousands of pounds for us over the years, as well as running our annual Christmas Auction and he was fundraising for us right up to Christmas Eve when he fell ill suddenly. Our thoughts are very much with his wonderful mum Bev and her family.

We look forward to the challenges 2018 will bring, we have some exciting opportunities coming up for new fosterers and fundraisers for those that would like to become more involved – details will be forthcoming shortly. We can’t stop the irresponsible breeding, the neglect, abuse and suffering that some dogs endure year in year out, but we will do our bit – our very best – to help where we can, and we thank all our partners, sponsors, fosterers, adopters, supporters and friends & family for helping us make as much difference as we can. Happy New Year to you all from Eileen, Kerri and all of us here at Cinque Ports Rescue.

Please enjoy this compilation of some of our adventures and dogs we have helped in 2017.
