Many of our supporters saw the Facebook posts a couple of weeks ago of the of the 5 dogs found dumped in a horrific condition in a country lane. One of the poor dogs was reunited with her owners after being reported as stolen 4 years previously, and the other 4 had rescue spaces organised by Niall Lester of New Hope Animal Rescue with 2 arriving in to our care for some much needed TLC. We have named the Poodle Cassie and the Bichon Frise is now called Misty, both girls have been settling in to their foster homes and receiving much needed love, food and veterinary care. Here are the photos taken on the day they were found, heavily matted, caked in faeces and coverted in urine burns, both dogs had been in extreme discomfort for a long period of time.
Once Cassie had been freed from the prison of her matted coat it became apparent how underweight she was and that she had a large growth on the top of her head, this has now been removed and is healing nicely, and thankfully it was just a benign cyst. She has also had a much needed dental and is now thoroughly enjoying her new diet of Natural Instinct and is gaining some much needed weight. Cassie is settling in to her foster home and is learning to love her home comforts again and, although she was understandably nervous on arrival, we are seeing daily improvements in her confidence and her lovely character is beginning to shine through.
Misty also had her coat removed and it was only then that the extent of the urine burns were realised. These were all thoroughly cleaned by our vet and already there is a huge improvement, although she still has to wear a buster collar for at least another week to stop her from scratching them but twice daily applications of Leucillin is helping the healing process tremendously. Misty has the sweetest nature and is also settling in to her foster home well, she is still quite young so we hope that the trauma of the abuse and neglect she has suffered will soon be forgotten. We are slowly starting to see her confidence build and she becomes more loving each day.
