Buddy is a gorgeous 2½-year-old Chihuahua cross who is now looking for a very special forever home.
Buddy is a very sweet, loving boy who adores people and enjoys the company of other dogs. He has a lovely affectionate nature and, once he feels safe and settled, he really is a little character who loves being close to his people.
However, Buddy does have some challenges which mean that finding the right home for him is especially important.
He can be very nervous, particularly when out on his lead, and he can become extremely attached and possessive towards the person he bonds with. This can make him uncomfortable when someone comes too close to his special person, and he has shown that he isn’t comfortable around young children. For this reason, Buddy will need an adult-only home where he can have the time, patience and understanding he needs.
Buddy could live with another another friendly, confident, preferably female dog for company, as he doesn’t enjoy being left alone for long periods and gains confidence from having another dog around however Buddy could live without another dog as long as his companionship needs are met by his family.
The really encouraging thing about Buddy is that, at just 2½ years old, he is still a young dog with so much potential. He is very trainable and is already showing improvement when given consistent commands, clear direction and positive guidance. With the right person who is prepared to continue this work, we believe Buddy has every opportunity to grow in confidence and learn how to manage the situations he currently finds difficult.
Buddy isn’t looking for a perfect home, he’s looking for the right home. A patient adult-only family who understands that he may need time to build confidence, can provide consistent boundaries and guidance, and will give him plenty of love and reassurance.
