Gregg: Miniature Dachshund

Gregg has now been REHOMED.

We are looking for a very special Dachshund savvy home for our lovely Gregg. We don’t know what trauma he has suffered in his short little life but it has certainly prevented him having the puppyhood he should have had which has left him under-socialised and anxious. It is obvious he hasn’t had any type of basic training to gain confidence and he was initially unable to process the most basic of scenarios which has left him very untrusting and intolerant to general handling from new people until he feels comfortable with them. We have seen positive improvements in his development during the 3 months he has been with us but his ongoing progress will be slow, so we now feel he will do better in an understanding home where he can gain progress and confidence at his own pace, although obviously he will take a step backwards until he can learn to trust his new caregivers.

Despite being wary of people Gregg adores all dogs in all shapes and sizes, he can be extremely playful with them and his best friend in his foster home is a large Labrador. Whilst we know Gregg needs at home with at least one other dog we feel he would do better in a multi dog household.

Gregg greets his foster family excitedly, bouncing around with a waggy tail, he now accepts fuss and he allows his foster family to pick him up, he really shows such potential for a dog who has suffered such a poor start. He is almost clean in the house now but as a young dog he has been known to chew and has destroyed a couple of foam dog beds in his foster home.

Gregg needs a really patient adult only home who are prepared to work with him at his own pace, he would prefer to have someone around for most of the day and he would really like some canine friends to live and play with. A very handsome boy, we estimate him to be between a year to 18 months old and he is on the large side of miniature at 7kg.
