Bertie: Jack Russell

Bertie has been RE-HOMED.

Bertie is a typical bouncy terrier, he has a wonderful temperament and is very playful and eager to please, he knows his basic commands and is very intelligent, so would be a perfect candidate for further training, which will give his brain a good work out too. He adores his toys, particularly enjoys a ball game, is house and crate trained, excellent in the car and is very happy on walks where he doesn’t meet other dogs, his recall is surprisingly good too! Owned from a pup by an older couple, his exercise needs were higher than they could manage so he came into our care to find an active home and he has been an absolute star in his foster home now that his needs are being met fully however, although Bertie has been mixing very well with the female resident dogs in his foster home, interacts nicely and is very playful, he is currently very dog reactive on lead, particularly if he is unexpectedly approached by another dog. As he is a young dog this behaviour can be corrected with confidence building and consistent & positive reinforcement training, so we are looking for a dog confident and experienced home for him.

Please don’t underestimate how much Bertie wants to play, therefore he will be best homed  with an energetic person/couple/family, he would prefer someone around for most of the day to give him the exercise, training and focus that he needs, and he could be re-homed where there are children of secondary school age. As a typical terrier, we will not be homing Bertie where there are cats, chickens or small furries. He can live with friendly, playful female dogs but he is currently unsure of male dogs.
