Taco: Miniature Dachshund Puppy

Taco has now been REHOMED, thank you to all that applied.

We are very pleased to introduce little Taco, affectionally know to his foster family as Bean. Taco is a lively chap and is currently living in a multi-dog, busy household and we would like to find him a home with a similar environment with more than one other dog to annoy play with! Taco also loves older children and would really love at least one in his new home. A playful boy, he will go from dog to dog, then person to person for playtime and then in true puppy style, he’ll wear himself out and crash, until the cycle begins again!

Taco is great with dog of all sizes, as he currently lives with his best buddy, a 32kg Labrador and another small Miniature Dachshund. Also, in true Dachshund puppy style, nothing is safe from chewing at the moment, so a safe environment and plenty of chew toys are a must as he is currently teething. Taco is clean during the day, but can still have a small accident overnight. Taco is definitely not a lap dog, although he’s happy to sit beside you on the sofa, he is more of a rough & tumble kinda lad! For a little chap, he has a big character, he is currently well socialised with other dogs, cats, people and children and this will need to continue to ensure he doesn’t develop the less popular of the Dachshund breed traits. Taco will need to attend training to ensure he grows into a well rounded and social adult dog, he will run rings around you if not!

Taco was handed into the rescue as an 8 week old puppy, as he had developed the condition known as Puppy Strangles (please do your research, we may ask questions!). He has received full veterinary treatment for this condition whilst in our care, and it has now completely cleared up, so Taco has finally been able to complete his vaccination course and is now ready to find his forever home.

At just 19 weeks old, Taco is too young to be neutered but will be subject to a cast iron neutering agreement which can be carried out at the appropriate age at our veterinary practice for a reduced cost. He will also need insuring, a good policy is a must for this breed so please consider this extra cost before applying.

This lad will be sadly missed by his foster family; can you offer Taco the perfect home? If you can then please complete our online Adoption Form.

All Cinque Ports Rescue dogs are neutered (or subject to a neutering agreement if not of appropriate age), microchipped, core vaccinated and up to date with parasite treatment.  All have life time support and full backup, 4 weeks free insurance and an adoption pack including 5 kg of Natural Instinct food and nutrition information. Please note that we are currently only rehoming locally to the South East Kent area.

All home offers will be subject to vetting and a home visit, and an adoption agreement and donation of £320 is required.

Cinque Ports Rescue is run purely by volunteers so please be aware that your application may not be responded to immediately. Thank you for your patience.
